After a day of wading through all that Saint Patrick's Day social intercourse it's always nice to come back to the asylum with a little note about the Raconteurs pinned to our cotton medical scrubs. Remember last summer when DJ Elektra at Chicagolands' very own Q101 seared the airwaves by playin' all of the "Icky Thump" LP sans permission, two weeks before the release? Well, them rumors over the weekend that the Raconteurs new LP would be released next week are no longer rumors. (Side note: our rock 'n roll stethoscopes thought it was complete hearsayin' bollocks).



It has been confirmed via press release that the aristocratic horsemen of rock Jack White and his power-popper buddy Brendan Benson (the Raconteurs) are side steppin' all that old-industry cockamamie business and releasin' their sophomore LP, "Consolers of the Lonely" in one week, on March 25 (CD, Vinly, Digital and of course via cell phone download in Japan). Without any "publicity"...bypassing the traditional three to four month window for all marketing, radio and press. The band said in a statement released this evenin', “We wanted to get this record to fans, the press, radio, etc., all at the EXACT SAME TIME so that no one has an upper hand on anyone else regarding it’s availability, reception or perception.” Why not? Nothin' else seems to be workin'.
