Reviews: “Ishati”, the debut album for this rather mysterious project, falls very close to what is commonly known as New Age music. It is quite easy to draw similarities between this Franco-Tibetan project and an oriental/Arabic inspiration where the likes of Dead Can Dance, Trial of the Bow or Steve Roach have also fed, but, for Rajna, the devotion to such magical and exotic sound tapestries is absolute and seems to acquire meditative and ritualistic characteristics. A fascinating and hypnotic work, stocked with ethnically flavoured melodies, sensual percussions sprinkled by light eroticism and canticles that are both frightful and strangely evocative, and where a slightly obscure ambience acquires a mysteriously pure and crystalline essence similar to a dream…
