Pyramaze is a Danish/American band, originally formed by a trio of Danes and later enlisting two Americans to complete the initial lineup (later, a fourth Dane signed on), and since signing to IntroMental Management have released two albums. The band is solidly in the progressive/melodic power metal realm, delivering punchy, melodic anthems laced with prog touches. Lance King has served time with a number of standout bands, and his Geoff Tate-inspired vocals surely lend a professional air to the band, but he is not the only star, as the musicianship is top-notch throughout. The arrangements are busy but not cluttered, with plenty of interplay between the keyboards and the guitars, with the able rhythm section keeping pace. In the space of a few years they've made major strides within the prog/power metal genre, and are an easy recommendation to fans of that style.
Vocalist Lance King stepped down in 2007, but the band found a capable, and perhaps surprising, replacement in former Iced Earth frontman Matt Barlow.
