Parted Magic это легкий Linux LiveCD, предназначенный для работы с разделами жесткого диска и восстановление данных при поврежденной таблице, случайно удаленных разделах и других аналогичных неприятностях...
В состае Parted Magic графические инструменты для монтирования разделов и записи компакт дисков, а так же приложения для восстановления разделов и загрузочных записей.
Parted Magic это неплохой набор утилит, таких как Partition Image, TestDisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, ddrescue и замечательный набор документации для пользователей. Графический сервер поддерживает большинство современных(и не очень) видеокарт, что позволяет работать практически на любых системах.
Загрузка настраивается с помощью F1. Есть сетевые настройки и Firefox...
Поддерживается формат 7zip. Для работы с разделами в Parted Magic используется GParted.
В итоге, получается набор мощных инструментов для работы с жестким диском, на базе «открытого ПО», умещающимся при этом на обычную флешку!!!

Почти всё(в версии 3.0) было обновлено и перепроектировано, хотя разработчики постарались сохранить привычный пользователям интерфейс.
Самые существенные изменения в версии 3.0:
Добавлены HAL и dbus, новый Xorg server, FireFTP, udpcast, ядро Linux-2.6.26, большое количество обновлённых и новых программ, новая версия GRUB»...
Список поддерживаемых файловых систем:
ext2, ext3, ext4, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, linux-swap, ntfs, reiserfs, reiser4, и xfs.
